Honeywell Hosts Long Island Fire Marshals – minutes from the meeting…

On April 30, Honeywell hosted 15 Nassau County and Town of Brookhaven Fire Marshals. The session lasted all morning and covered a variety of fire-related topics. Topics included wireless fire applications, combination burg/fire control panels, user interfaces and alarm communications.
Wireless fire was well-received as a viable solution within commercial fire applications, when properly applied. Combination burg/fire control panels were considered acceptable by the Fire Marshals depending on the specific system configuration. They did not foresee rejection or elimination of combination panels. Honeywell marketing shared next generation user interfaces and fire annunciators and gathered feedback from the Fire Marshals.
Fire communications was discussed in-depth. Honeywell’s IP and GSM communicators were discussed. Many questions were fielded.
Agency listings were addressed, including the use of an ETL mark in lieu of UL.
The communication between the local authorities and equipment manufacturers is vital to providing acceptable products in the marketplace
